OE Solutions launches 25G SFP28 Transceiver Portfolio

By OE Solutions

Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, Sept 18, 2017 — OE Solutions announces a new portfolio of 25G SFP28 optical transceivers for enterprise and access network applications. The first two members of the portfolio are multi-rate transceivers for next generation datacom applications and wireless infrastructures. OE Solutions will be demonstrating 25G transceiver technologies at ECOC 2017 (Booth 289).

Datacenters for high-performance data storage and archiving employ Fibre Channel and Ethernet protocols for applications such as synchronous mirroring as well as general data storage and archiving. The exponential growth in datacenter capacity continues to challenge space, power and cost efficiency. Therefore, new data rates, like 25G Ethernet and 32G Fiber Channel have been introduced to optimize the return on investment while scaling with the increase in demand.

25G SFP28 transceivers also play in critical role in meeting the growing bandwidth demand in next generation access networks such as 5G wireless. Development of 5G wireless continues aggressively with an increasing number of demonstrations and trials although some standards are still being crafted. While interface developments, like the recently released eCPRI specifications, will help improve bandwidth efficiency, the 5G wireless infrastructure will require significantly higher capacity in the optical links. Compact, power and cost efficient 25G transceivers supporting both Ethernet and CPRI-10 will play a key role in supporting the rollout of this next generation wireless infrastructure.

“The ever-growing consumption of entertainment and information continues to drive development of new cost-efficient information technologies,” said Per B. Hansen, VP Marketing & Sales of OE Solutions America. “With these new 25G transceiver products, we are addressing urgent needs in the access network, which is often characterized by deployments in uncontrolled environments, as well as the need for multi-rate Ethernet/Fibre Channel transceivers for enterprise and data storage networks.”

The new 25G transceivers from OE Solutions are:

  • 25Gbps (25G Ethernet, 8G-FC, 16G-FC and 32G-FC) 1310nm Standard-Temperature SFP28

    for distances up to 10km

  • 25Gbps (25G Ethernet, CPRI-10) 1310nm Industrial-Temperature SFP28 for distances up to 10km

These transceivers are currently available as samples. General Availability will be in Q4 2017.

Visit OE Solutions at ECOC, Booth 289, in Gothenburg, Sweden from September 18 to 20, 2017 to learn more about 25G transceiver technology and product portfolio.
