OE Solutions Announces Successful Demonstration of 10GbE Single Wavelength Bi-Directional (SWBiDi) XFP

By OE Solutions

Gwangju, Korea, March 3, 2011: OE Solutions Co, Ltd., a global supplier of high performance optoelectronic transceiver solutions for wireless and wireline optical communications, announced the successful demonstration of 10GbE Single Wavelength Bi-Directional (SWBiDI) XFP up to 10km reach.
“As the leader in single fiber transceiver technology, OE Solutions is once again at the forefront and leading the industry by successfully demonstrating 10GbE SWBiDi XFP up to 10km reach,” said Dr. JoonSang Yu, Director of Product Management at OE Solutions.  “Customers now fully realize the cost benefits of moving from a dual fiber to a single fiber solution, especially as fiber exhaust becomes an issue and the cost of leasing fiber increases.  However, the operational headache and cost of making sure the correct transceiver pairs are deployed in the field has been a deterrent for some customers.  We are taking away this hindrance for the customer and, in turn, reducing the operational cost, by offering our Single Wavelength BiDi solution.  Now customers can deploy one wavelength over single fiber and not have to worry about making sure the correct wavelength pair has been installed in the field.”
Combining the optical subassembly knowhow with optics and transceiver packaging expertise, OE Solutions was able to expand SWBiDi operation to 10Gb/s data rate. The 10GbE SWBiDi XFP operates at 1270nm, 1290nm, 1310nm, and 1330nm wavelengths with -3dBm output power and -10dBm sensitivity.  Further development is underway to improve the output power and sensitivity to extend the reach 40km and beyond.
General samples will be available June 1, 2011.

OE Solutions will exhibit in booth #1846 at the OFC/NFOEC 2011, March 6-10, 2011, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
