OE Solutions Unveils 2km and 10km 25G SFP28 Transceivers for 24.33G CPRI, 25G Ethernet and 32G Fiber Channel Applications

By OE Solutions

Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, March 17, 2016 — OE Solutions announces the release of 25G SFP28 transceivers in 2km (CLR) and 10km (LR) variants. The two new transceivers, which support 24.33G CPRI (CPRI-10), 25G Ethernet and 32G Fiber Channel, use uncooled and cooled 1310nm DFB laser diodes, respectively, combined with PIN detectors in a space-efficient SFP28 form factor for realizing low-power, cost-efficient transceiver products that address the datacenter, client optics, and edge-interconnect applications areas.

As IEEE is working on standardizing 25G Ethernet and bandwidth requirements in edge-interconnect applications, such as wireless front-haul and business service delivery, as well as server-interconnect are growing, 25G data rates will follow 10G. As history has shown, standardization and commercialization will drive broad adoption of the new higher bit rate. Space-, power- and cost-efficient pluggable transceivers is an important component for enabling widespread use of new 25G data rates.

“The growing appetite for immediate access to data is driving a rapid evolution of optical connectivity technologies. As standards bodies are formalizing the protocols we are working hard to bring the relevant transceiver technologies to market” said Per B. Hansen, VP Marketing & Sales of OE Solutions America. “We are excited to see the burgeoning adoption of 25G interconnects in many applications.”

The 2km and 10km 25G SFP28 transceivers are currently available as engineering samples. Volume production will start in Q2 2016.
