OE Solutions Introduces Plastic Optical fiber (POF) Transceiver for Home Networking Applications

By OE Solutions

Gwangju, Korea, February 28, 2011: OE Solutions Co, Ltd., a global supplier of high performance optoelectronic transceiver solutions for wireline and wireless optical communications, announced the introduction of 1.25Gbps and 2.5Gbps bi-directional SFP for over 200m reach POF applications
“We are excited with this POF bi-directional SFP solution which enables to transmit over 200 meters at 1.25Gbps and 2.5Gbps through grade-index perfluorinated plastic optical fiber of 62.5 micron core diameter and 750 micron outer diameter.” said DaeJin Kim, Director of Product Development at OE Solutions. “Our bi-directional SFP transceiver of 850nm and 980nm VCSEL combination operates in the  temperature of -20 to 70oC. Until now, the simplicity advantage of using plastic optical fiber was somewhat offsets by high attenuation, limited bandwidth, and restriction to visible wavelengths.  Now system designer can use our POF bi-directional transceiver with more flexibility with less constraint of bandwidth, transmission distance and temperature range. Additionally, in MDU (Multiple Dwelling Unit) applications, using POF BiDi SFP can be more cost effective and higher bandwidth than using CAT5 copper cable.”

To meet diverse customer requirements, OE Solutions’ POF bi-directional SFP will be available for higher bandwidth of 6Gbps and 10Gbps applications. OE Solutions have a capability to offer different platform technologies for different applications such as Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, DVI, USB and other multi-gigabit applications at short distance without dispersion compensation.

OE Solutions will exhibit in booth #1846 at the OFC/NFOEC 2011, March 6-10, 2011, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
