OE Solutions Introduces 3Gbps HD digital video transceivers
By OE Solutions
Fort Lee, New Jersey, September 16, 2008: OE Solutions Co, Ltd., a global supplier of high performance optoelectronic transceiver solutions for fiber optical communications, announced the introduction of its HD Video SFF and SFP transceivers that handle up to 3Gbps.
Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has standards for handling high definition video signals with pathological pattern. SMPTE’s standards currently call for 259M (SD-SDI), 344M (ED-SDI), 292M (HD-SDI) and 424M (3G-SDI). “SMPTE 424M” is a standard which expands upon SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 344M, and SMPTE 292M allowing for bit-rates of 2.970 Gbit/s and 2.970/1.001 Gbit/s over a single-link cable. These bit-rates are sufficient for 1080p video at 50 or 60 frames per second
“As HD video contents become widely available in video and broadcasting industry, demand for transporting the signals over optics has grown to be prevalent. Also, the industry is currently at a point for transitioning into utilizing 1080p uncompressed signals. With the increasing demand of using 1080p signal, introducing 3.0G version in SFF/SFP form factor was inevitable,” said John Kwak, Director of Business of Development at OE Solutions America. “With increase in bandwidth for HD signals, we are additionally finalizing our solution that incorporates integrated WDM approach into transceivers.”
OE Solutions HD video solutions are available in both SFF and SFP packages with standard pin configurations. These parts are available in five different configurations, i.e. transmitter only, receiver only, dual-channel transmitter, dual-channel receiver and transceiver.
OE Solutions will exhibit these transceivers at ECOC 2008 in Brussels. Booth number is 383.
